FAQs

Why is the School Journal important?

The Journal is compulsory and must be in a student’s possession at all times. It is an important document and must be used for recording homework. It is also used for communication with home. The Journal must be signed and dated by a teacher if a student leaves class for any reason. Year Heads and Class Tutors will check the journal regularly to ensure it is neat and that homework is recorded accurately. Parents are requested to sign the journal once a week to monitor their child’s progress. If a student mislays the journal he/she must report the loss to their Year Head immediately. The Year Head will arrange for the purchase of a new College Journal.

Every student and staff member in the College has a right to learn and work in a safe environment. Members of staff accept a collective responsibility, under the direction of management, to act in preventing bullying/aggressive behaviour by any individual in the College. The College also recognises the important role of the parent/guardian in monitoring their child’s social and moral development. Through an increased awareness of the potential damaging effects of bullying, we have developed supportive strategies for the prevention of such behaviour. Our anti-bullying policy also includes a staged approach to ensure any issue of bullying is dealt with promptly and effectively.

The use of mobile phones is prohibited throughout the school day, and on the school grounds. Therefore, phones must be switched off. Parents/Guardians can contact their son/daughter via the school office.

Each student will be assigned a locker at the beginning of the school year for which he/she pays a nominal fee. It is at the discretion of the Year Head how the lockers are allocated. Locker inspections are carried out during the year to aid students in developing organisational skills. Students will be notified in advance of inspections

All students must wear a school uniform as its purpose is to ensure equality and to have uniformity of dress amongst the school body. The uniform consists of: school jumper, white shirt, school tie, black trousers/school skirt, black shoes and black socks/tights. All students must wear the full uniform at all times. School PE gear should be worn when participating in P.E. classes and sporting activities.
